Christmas 2011: Fuchsers in Emerson

The next part of our Christmas tour was a stop in Emerson to spend Christmas Eve with my family. We got home early on Saturday morning, the guys spent the afternoon watching football and the girls played with the kiddos and helped mom get everything ready for dinner. At 5pm, my Grandpa & Vi came out and we all sat down to feast. Immediately after we had to get everyone put together for the Christmas Eve service at church - one of my favorite parts of the holiday. It's fun to have the whole family at church plus I've always loved how at the end of the service everyone in the congregations lights a candle, the lights are dimmed and we sing "Silent Night, Holy Night."

After church we headed back home and everyone gets into their PJs and we let the kids open one present, while the adults fill their glasses with a cocktail and relax. Heather and Sophie had to head back to Norfolk, but we gained Josh, Ashley & DeLaney. It's hard not having everyone there at the same time but I'm glad when we get to spend time together regardless.

On Christmas morning we had something special to celebrate, not only was it Cruz's first Christmas, but Josh & Ashley had just gotten engaged that morning at their house! Josh proposed sweetly: he gave the ring to DeLaney and she walked it out to Ashley and when Ashley figured out what it was, Josh was there and asked her to marry him....awwww! Then they came out to mom & dad's house and we opened Christmas presents all together. It's so much fun watching all the kids open their gifts and get so excited about what they got - I can't wait until next year when Cruz will be able to participate in opening presents.

(He LOVES puzzles so I was excited to find this site where we could
custom make a puzzle for him & input the names of special
people in his life as parts of Aaysenland)

Next stop: Omaha for Christmas with the Manganaro - Gardner clan!
